Configuring LinkedIn
To set up LinkedIn login, create a LinkedIn app with Sign In with LinkedIn using OpenID Connect, then enter its Client ID and secret in TML Social.
Before You Start
Every LinkedIn developer app must be associated with a LinkedIn Page, and the association can't be changed later. Use your organization's existing Page, or create one from the app form. LinkedIn only lets an account create a Page once it has more than one connection.
Create the App
- Go to https://www.linkedin.com/developers/apps and click "Create app".
- Enter an app name, your LinkedIn Page, your privacy policy URL and a logo. Your users see the name and logo when they approve the login.
- Accept the terms and click "Create app".
Add Sign In with LinkedIn
- Open the "Products" tab.
- Find "Sign In with LinkedIn using OpenID Connect" and click "Request access". This product is available to every app and is approved immediately.
Add the Redirect URL
- Open the "Auth" tab.
- Under "Authorized redirect URLs for your app", add your TML login page URL with the provider appended as a query argument. By default, this is https://yoursite.com/login/?provider=linkedin. The URL must use HTTPS.
Obtain Client ID & Client Secret
On the same "Auth" tab, copy the Client ID and the Primary Client Secret into their corresponding fields under Theme My Login → Social. On a multisite network, the settings are in the Network Admin, and one LinkedIn app serves every site on the network.
Don't forget to check "Enable" and then click "Save Changes".
Login With LinkedIn
You will now see "Continue with LinkedIn" on your login form. The first time someone logs in, they're matched to an existing user with the same email address or, if registration is open, a new user is created for them.
